Fontana was founded in 1913, by A.B. Miller. It is home to the largest county library, a renovated historic theater, a municipal park and the Auto Club Speedway. Fontana’s current economy is driven largely by industrial uses, particularly trucking-based industries and many product distributions centers for such companies as Toyota, Target, Mercedes Benz, SCE and more. Fontana is home to Kaiser Permanente with over 5,000 employees. The Metrolink rail service to the greater Los Angeles area has a station that runs through the center of town. The city is 10 mins from Ontario International Airport. One of the most prominent and well-known landmarks of the city is the Lewis Library and Technology Center, which opened in April 2008. Fontana offers many community centers bringing many fun and unique programs to the residents. Fontana has an estimated population of 212,000. Fontana is a modern, vibrant city nestled against the San Bernardino mountains, just east of Rancho Cucamonga.
