Ontario is a city located in the southwestern San Bernardino County. About 35 miles east of Los Angeles. Ontario has a population of approximately 170,000 people. The city has a total area of 50.0 square miles. The climate of Ontario has very hot summers and warm winters. The city is home to the Ontario International Airport, which is the 15th busiest airport in the United States. Ontario Airport provides domestic and international air travel. The city maintains an Amtrak station and a Metrolink station. Because Ontario is a major hub for passengers and freight, the city has easy access to several major freeways, such as Interstate 10, 15 and 60. It is also home to the Ontario Mills, the largest shopping and outlet mall in San Bernardino county, opened in 1996 with more than 200 stores. Like other premium outlet malls, Ontario Mills was built in an area that had ample land available. Ontario is also home to Citizens Bank Arena, which is owned by Ontario, an 11,000-seat multi-purpose arena. Ontario has 25 public elementary schools, 6 middle schools and 5 public high schools. There is also several private schools and 2 military schools. Ontario is a down to earth city with a good sense of community and it has a rich, historical heritage with many historic homes.
